Strelka in Venice. The morning after.
Strelka in Venice live
In Venice, we just finished up the Strelka presentation as part of the Architecture Biennale. The presentation took the form of a discussion between OMA and Strelka. Participants Ilya Oskolkov-Tsentsiper, Alexander Mamut, Rem Koolhaas, Dmitry Linkin, Oleg Shapiro, Mikhail Schindhelm and Reiner de Graaf presented the institute to its international public. Shumon Basar moderated the discussion.
Alexander Mamut explained what inspired him to finance the project and shared his impressions exactly one year after the idea to found the institute. Rem Koolhaas outlined the research topics of Strelka, drawing comparisons to his experience teaching at Harvard. Ilya Oskolkov-Tsentsiper spoke a little on how Media has always had a strong role in the Institute’s program, which emphasizes the relevance of what the students are doing. Afterall, the students’ work will eventually leave the institute, in the form of media products.
Participants discussed the various approaches to an education in architecture in different countries, as well as new forms of education and philanthropical activity in Moscow.
A video of the presentation will soon be available on our site.

АМО once more at Strelka
Less than three months remain until the beginning of Strelka’s inaugural academic year. What better time to get to know the curriculum, especially when you can hear about it from its author, Rem Koolhaas.
On July 16, Rem Koolhaas, Reiner de Graaf, and Michael Schindhelm will be on hand to give more details on the themes, underlying the academic program, as well as answer all those questions you’ve been holding onto since late May, when the curriculum was first announced.
The event is open to all those who are interested. You can register here.
Spend your night at Strelka!
After a full day of events as a part of the Strelka day program, who can resist staying for the night, when the steamy summer air gives way to evening breezes? Even harder to resist is the film screening in the courtyard. As a part of the 2Morrow Festival of Contemporary Film, Strelka will show three documentaries dealing with fashion: Marc Jacobs & Louis Vuitton, Annie Leibovitz: Through the Lens and Veruschka: A Life for the Camera. During the screening, fashion editors will take over Strelka Bar’s grand piano, for an unforgetable evening.

Twitter Wall
As of today, you can find out more about Strelka on the Twitter Wall! Now you can start up a conversation or get into a debate with Bjarke Ingels or the general director of Yota, or send Rem Koolhaas a tricky question, even if you can’t make it to the event personally. Any communications with the designation #strelka will now show up on the Twitter Wall. During lectures, discussions and round tables, the Twitter Wall will be broadcast live in the Strelka courtyard.
You can try it out for yourself during today’s lecture Technopolitan Living: New Technologies, New Dynamics.
